Karin Wilson: We need equal representation

Men and women are different. We think differently, make decisions differently and ultimately complement one another. Constituents will be underserved until there’s equal representation at the table making the decisions that impact us all.

Sorry about no FREAKY FRIDAY, but after 6 weeks confinement and absolutely beautiful weather, I had to have a “beach fix” on Friday and it took all day. Every voting citizen in Fairhope should read the recent cover story in Lagniappe, A TALE OF TWO CITIES. It is a look at the other “side” of Fairhope — the gap between affluent and working poor. A tale of two cities By Lynn Oldshue “A century …

  • FAIRHOPE GOING BACKWARDS?

In 2016 I backed Karin Wilson and the current city council, which includes Burrell Boone and Brown. I got one out of four right, Karin Wilson. I was wrong in trusting Burrell, Boone or Brown but I wanted to believe them when they said that they were independent individuals with only Fairhope’s best interest at heart. What total BS that turned out to be, all three have betrayed Fairhope and used …

  • PROTESTER PRIDE

Group of protesters holding signs, demonstrating against Roy Moore’s candidacy in Baldwin County, Alabama

The Moore and Bannon show did not count on any protesters, no they thought everyone would just roll over as usual. Wrong, and thank God for it. Fairhope should be proud that many women in Baldwin County did not allow themselves to be silenced and exercised their constitutional right to peacefully protest the candidacy of Roy Moore. Please note I said Roy Moore because he is not a judge, he lost …

  • SELF INCRIMINATION

Fairhope’s growth presents a choice: support new leadership or face challenges due to rapid development

Fairhope you have two choices. Believe in Mayor Wilson and her ideas on infrastructure and growth or follow a city council who has demonstrated no leadership, has adopted the theme of no action, is in denial of facts, and refuses to adapt to changing demographics, or change period. FACT: Fairhope is the fastest growing city in Alabama. FACT: Fairhope Schools did not rank in the top 25. FACT: The …

Comment: I hope that everyone understands what is really at stake here! Sherry says “ she knows how city government should be work, about how building relationships is important in order to get things done “ …. WELL FOLKS, YES SHE DOES!!! She was a huge part of the Kant regime that was full of corruption, did work and favors for wealthy people and maintained these poisonous relationships that were …

  • THE EAGLE HAS LANDED AND THE COURT OF PUBLIC OPINION HAS VOTED

Celebratory graphic announcing a victory, likely related to the Fairhope mayoral election discussed in the article

It is no secret that I have spent 10 years trying to unseat the Mayor of Fairhope. It is expected after an election to be gracious and heap accolades on the departing Mayor, I will reserve my comments until Nov. 7th. The transition period between now and Nov. 7th will be telling. I hope it is civil with no surprises or forced through agendas that may impact the city negatively.

  • WOMEN OF BALDWIN

Feminist symbol representing a call to vote candidate over party, challenging established political networks

Vote candidate not party. Straight ticket voting is voting blind and allows corruption to flourish and compromises elected officials. It strengthens the good ole boy network and Catalyst candidates, something all parties should be against. Baldwin County has been run by old white men, all politically connected to one goal, do what the hell they think is best for them. Well those old white men are …
