After a 4 and half hour meeting of the Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Organization, they voted to stand firm against Poison Ivy. It was a sight to behold every politician in Baldwin County showed up for the cameras and microphone. This is the first time in 20 years that such a unanimous position was shared by almost 100% of the Baldwin County elected officials. Where were they when Goat Hill stole the BP money?

This is not a proven fact, it's just a collection of puzzle pieces that needs to be looked into. This is a long narrative but worth the read. One thing I think everyone will agree on is Alabama is the most corrupt state in the United States. Everyone agrees a need for a bridge, they do not agree that a bridge should be built on the backs of Mobile and Baldwin County. The movers and shakers of the bridge do not understand that besides the toll, the general population has “no confidence” in them or the State’s leadership.

Long before Fairhope Mayor Wilson even thought about running for office, Fairhope had major infrastructure and sewer problems. Baykeeper was contacted time and time again through the years about various issues. I know because I called. Now the Director of Baykeeper is claiming that all you got to do, if you have an environmental problem, is to contact Baykeeper. Baykeeper never did a damn thing about the Publix project, flooding of Fly Creek by the developer, or filling of the creek with development site mud and sand. Then came the Fly Creek Apartments to be built along Fly Creek. Hundreds opposed the project and Baykeeper did NOT answer the phone.

This is a comment that the Ripp Report received. It accurately describes the Fairhope City council and their obstruction in infrastructure repairs. Anonymous Director Peterson has been raising this issue in council meeting after council meeting and, despite what Robert Brown says about funding issues, both he and Director Johnson have asked this Council to streamline the process for funding of projects. The Council – particularly Council President Burrell – has dismissed the process that these Directors have begged to implement regarding such requests. There is a work session or council meeting +/- six months ago where Director Johnson requested that the Council reconsider the way in which all projects, including infrastructure projects, are funded because the process in place (where Council President Burrell gets to keep his thumb on everything) creates a system that requires too many steps to fully fund approved projects and does not give Directors enough discretion to immediately address emergency situations. I believe Director Johnson gave an example of the process in either Daphne or the County or both as how things should work. Ripp, please find the video of that session and post it every time the Council claims they are doing their part to quickly fund these infrastructure needs.

August 7, 2019 Dear Casi Calloway: I can no longer, as Mayor, sit back and allow the City’s reputation to suffer while Mobile Baykeeper continues to share sensationalized “news” releases without transparent facts. Your failure to respond to my email from July 30th after the most recent news release concerning a video of a “mysterious” substance was really the straw that broke the camel’s back for me.When I ran for Mayor, I communicated the critical needs for infrastructure upgrades in all four of our utilities and the sense of urgency to address it due to the City’s unprecedented growth. The lack of strategic planning motivated me to do something about it. This is my home and I care deeply about the health of Mobile Bay, the City, our citizens and our future. I looked forward to working with Mobile Baykeeper because I believed my goals and objectives aligned with its mission.
