The Fairhope City Council and Weeks Bay are trying to tell the general public that a Conservation Easement does not mean Weeks Bay owns the property. True they also have no lease or title to the land. The city is simply “disposing” of the property and any control of the property. The City would be signing over management and control for perpetuity to Weeks Bay. That’s forever baby! The President of the Fairhope City Council has held on to that title for over 7 years. This is extremely rare, most often Councils share the position of Council President with other Council members. Not Jack Burrell, he has to maintain “control”. His Control has been very costly for the City of Fairhope. His lack of leadership and his favoritism to special interests, CATALYST, is all to apparent. Ask yourself, How can a Council President not know whose idea it was to “dispose” of 106 acres of city property, worth 20 million dollars? He knows, however Jack chose to lie to the entire council chambers claiming he forgot. WT F 20 million and he forgot who came up with the idea. HA
RAYMOND WATKINS Carolyn, Mariah and I, as well as a few hundred other people, are saddened by the news of a very dear friend’s passing. Raymond Watkins, he was one of a kind and I for one will smile every time I think of Raymond. In our yard we have several mementos from Raymond, Plants, rocks and stain glass to mention a few. Raymond and Carolyn had a special bond that few friends ever have. Raymond has known Mariah all her life, she would not want me to say how long that was. Raymond always treated Mariah with respect and love. Alejandro, Mariah’s husband, quickly became friends with Raymond who constantly teased him. Who did he not provoke with his witty teasing? We all know how he took care of Ben and keep him out of any “senior citizens homes”. Raymond also took care of me after multiple shoulder operations at the Birmingham VA. We love you Raymond and we will miss you but we will smile when we think of you. GOD BLESS.
