Mid Term Elections are upon us, qualification closes 5:00 PM Feb. 9th. Then it is game on for many important positions in Baldwin County. Statewide general information can be found on:
We have only 4 months until the primary election June 5 2018.
Baldwin County is in a position to change the political makeup of the good ole boys with candidates that are fed up with back room deals. The first step was taken by the election of Mayor Karen Wilson.
Just when you thought there was no hope for the Baldwin County Family Court, Judge Thomason announces she is running for Court of Appeals position vacated by Craig Pittman who is retiring. Of course another court will inherit her incompetence but at least she won’t be making decisions about the welfare of children. It should be expected if she looses the election Nov. 2018, she probably will re run for her present position again.
First let me announce that no longer will the Ripp Report accept comments from Jester 666 and the Truth teller, most likely one in the same. Their comments add nothing to the subjects at hand and the personal attacks, some sexiest, will not be tolerated. Their comments are meant to distract from the subject at hand. They Do represent what is NOT needed in Fairhope or Baldwin County. They will continue to filter into the site from time to time and we will continue to eliminate them.
Fairhope politics has taken on a coup mentality. Mayor Wilson upset the apple cart of two political groups: Tim Kant followers, and Jack Burrell and his cronies, both supported by Catalyst. Kant followers have fallen off in recent years and Mr Burrell was assured by Kant he would be the next mayor, along with two others. Jack hedged his position by playing both sides to his benefit however mayor Wilson winning was not in the cards.
Mid term elections are 18 months away and already we are seeing the GOB "good ole boys", and Catalyst, placing their candidates in strategic elected positions.
Campaign callouts With a special election to permanently fill Jeff Sessions’ U.S. Senate seat set for later this year, Alabamians need to get acquainted with the state politicians that could be running

COFAIRHOPE: ATTENTION MAYOR AND COUNCIL
Dear Mayor and Council please take your positions seriously and understand that a part of your responsibilities is to discipline yourselves. The Fairhope City Council in the past has ignored any conflicts of interest, they may have, while voting on issues that they are personally involved with or have a business interest related to the applicant.
The last council meeting had several members of the council that had conflicts of interest when it came to the voting on the extension of the sunset clause related to Fly Creek Apartments.
Sorry for the delay of the Ripp Report.
CITY OF FAIRHOPE CITY COUNCIL AGENDA MONDAY, 10 APRIL 2017 - 6:00 PM. - CITY COUNCIL CHAMBER
Final Adoption – An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 1572: Fly Creek PUD Sunset Provision; Paragraph 3 (a). This will be the 10th time this subject has come up and it cost the previous mayor and others their jobs. No one is for the project except those married to it.
Fairhope voters, we did it once and now we have to do it again. And that is show our mayor support and remind the city council the majority won the election. Our council has been under the influence of the minority and turning a blind eye to the majority. They have allowed previous personal friendships to take front seat to city issues, following senior councilmen down a path of falsehoods. The newly elected council, three members, have been convinced— so far, that facts are fiction, such as the airport scandal.
There is no arguing that Alabama is in very sad shape when it comes to the state’s political structure and the lack of any leadership. Alabama’s republican and democrat’s are in an abyss, wandering aimlessly, clueless as to what it will take to bring Alabama out of not the third world but the dark ages. They have done a good job of selling the voters in the state a bill of goods that serves them the best.
